Scenario: – You are an Epidemiologist working for your local Health Authority, you have been tasked with producing a report on the incidence of a specified disease for which there is a cause for concern in your local area.
To achieve this unit, you must complete the following tasks:
This work should be in your own words with a word limit of 2000 words. Any diagrams or quotes must be suitably referenced using the Harvard system.
Task 1. Produce an introductory report/ poster to describe the concept of “disease”. Using suitable examples outline the categories of disease and different methods of categorizing disease. [200 words]
Task 2. Using suitable examples construct a table to illustrate infectious disease caused by pathogenic micro-organisms. This table should include the classes of pathogenic micro-organisms [ Bacteria, virus, protozoa and fungi] and modes of transmission.

Task 3. Produce a PowerPoint presentation to describe the epidemiology of ONE specified disease or condition.
Either one named infectious disease. for example: – AIDS, Malaria, Ebola, Influenza, COVID19
OR
One named Non-Infectious disease, for example: – Coronary Heart Disease, Type II diabetes, Emphysema, A named Carcinoma.
Your PowerPoint should include: – Using appropriate statistical data, an analysis of the incidence of the disease.
An explanation of the patterns of the disease, in relation to, for example, demographics, gender, ethnicity, poverty, healthcare provision.
Evaluate methods that may be employed to reduce incidence of the named disease.
