Main point 1: Cultural diversity aids in the development and maximization of skillsets. Subpoint 1: In a culturally diverse workplace people are empowered to develop their skills and talents. Subpoint 2: Broad ideas and expertise help people to learn from broad collection of workmates. Subpoint 3: Cultural diversity also enhances problem-solving skills besides boosting workplace happiness and productivity. Subpoint 4: An environment of creativity is again largely cultivated in a culturally diverse workplace which is crucial in driving business growth. Main point 2: Cultural diversity is important in improving the process of recruitment. Subpoint 5: Research indicates that many candidates consider diversity as important in their job search. Subpoint 6: Development of a cultural diversity strategy broadens organizational appeal to prospective employees. Subpoint 7: Again, cultural diversity enhances reach to high level candidates across broad human capabilities. Main point 3: Cultural diversity is crucial for talent retention. Summary: According to Kaur et al., diversity is becoming a crucial part of modern business operations. A diverse workplace recognizes that its workforce hails from different cultures, age groups, family backgrounds, gender, and religions. Organizations should employ diversity management techniques to appreciate every employee’s contribution to organizational effectiveness and success. Other importance of implementing diversity include promoting innovation in the workplace, helps in solving problems, reducing employees’ attrition, and painting a good picture for the company, among others. However, implementing a diversity management strategy is faced with various challenges contributed by communication barriers, generation and age differences, discrimination, and ineffective realization of diversity strategies. According to the article, some of the best approaches to enhance diversity are implementing clear diversity policies, improving communication, and proper education and training. (2020) DIVERSITY and INCLUSION: Practices, Benefits, and Challenges. Parishodh Journal, 4(3), 8856-8868 3 Summary: Khanna and Mishra (2020) suggest that diversity and inclusion are currently the most widely organizational resources. However, some organizations have challenges implementing diversity and inclusion strategies in the workplace. Khanna and Mishra (2020) conducted their research on Indian organizations. They realized that diversity management is a significant challenge in organizations since diversity is still imaging in Indian organizations. The article suggests that enhancing diversity is associated with positive impacts on the organization. A diversified workplace can elevate productivity and gives an organization a competitive advantage. Diversity also enhances equality, which increases employees’ confidence in their capabilities and exploring their strengths. Others include improved communication and innovative thinking. Khanna and Mishra (2020) suggest that HR has an essential role in implementing diversity in organizations through redesigning occupations and reclassifying jobs, and promoting openness in the workplace. Quotation: Khanna and Mishra (2020) state that “It is a well-known fact that the companies which acknowledge the importance of diversity in the workplace perform well financially and culturally.” (p. 8859). Overall Assessment: Khanna and Mishra (2020) have provided insights about diversity and inclusion in a country such as India, which is learning to promote diversity in the workplace. This information will help me generalize diversity in countries in the same situations during my presentation. Article 3 Reference: Raewf, M. B., & Mahmood, Y. N. (2021). The Cultural Diversity in the Workplace. Cihan University-Erbil Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, 5(1), 1-6. 4 Summary: According to Raewf and Mahmood (2021), the cultural diversity of workplaces in developing countries is among the pressing issues affecting business operations. The two scholars researched to evaluate the impact of cultural diversity on the achievement of goals and objectives in organizations and the perspective of cultural diversity by top business leaders in Iraq, a developing country. According to their findings, many organizations in the country are interested in implementing cultural diversity in the workplace. Managers and leaders in many organizations in Iraq prefer dealing with multicultural employees. Besides, organizations that appreciated cultural diversity had higher productivity and a competitive advantage over other organizations. Raewf and Mahmood (2021) suggest that hiring policies and programs in Iraq should be enhanced to apply cultural diversity. Organizations in Iraq should conduct education and training for employees regarding diversity. Quotation: According to Raewf and Mahmood (2021), “the confrontation presented by the rising cultural diversity of the global workforce is maybe the most pressing test of our times.” (p. 1). Overall Assessment: Raewf and Mahmood’s (2021) article is well-organized, improving the understanding of diversity in developing countries. The insights obtained in this article will be helpful when addressing diversity in developing countries. Article 4 Reference: Foma, E. (2014). Impact of workplace diversity. Review of Integrative Business and Economics Research, 3(1), 382. Summary: Foma’s article shows that there are many benefits of diversity at the workplace and some negative aspects. Some of the importance is the exchange of ideas since employees are of different cultures, increased number of qualified personnel, diversity build 5 harmony in the workplace, reduction of discrimination, and development of healthy competition. Among the negative aspects are the language barrier, diversity can negatively affect the performance of an organization, and some people can resist change. Foma believes that having a diverse workplace is tremendous and advantageous to any company. Developing a durable diversity plan is the most significant thing any organization prioritizes before introducing a diverse workplace and workforce. Quotation: Foma (2014) states that “The key to creating a successful diverse workplace lies within your organization.” (p. 409). Overall Assessment: Foma’s article is adequately researched, well written, and presents a better understanding of a topic many organizations don’t know how to implement correctly.
