Scenario You are employed by RB Holdings as an Assistant Construction Manager; your role is to provide Joe Lurgano the Construction Manager with a wide range of assistance. Joe has given you a set of plans for a new project that is due to start in a couple of weeks. The project is a residential single story dwelling for Mr and Mrs Brown at 1 Lake Rd Toronto NSW. He would like you to start preparing for the slabs and footings and has given you a number of tasks to do to ensure this stage of the job goes to plan and has a quality outcome. Task 1.1 Site Soil Classification as per site report: Other relevant standard: Complete the table below to record your analysis. Construction DetailNCC SpecificationNCC Section Part and ClauseToronto Project Complies Yes/NoExternal Wall Detail Garage/Kitchen Detail Internal Detail Slab: Depth Length Scenario After the checks you made with the soil classification, piers have been added to the structural specification to support the slab. They are located at every corner and at 1800 centres to the outer edge of the slab only. Preliminary site works have been completed and piers are ready to pour. Joe has asked that you and the labourer go out to the site and do some checks before the concrete is placed. He said that the excavator did the set out for the piers and normally these are done correctly, however Joe would like you to double check. Once these have been done, he would like you to report back before he gives the go ahead for the concrete. Task 1.2 Place your report notes and sketch here: (An unrelated example has been given to show the details required) NCC Part and clauseDeem to Satisfy requirementsExample: Part 3.6 – Glazing Clause 3.6.2 (a)“Glazing used in the perimeter of buildings and supported on all sides must comply with the appropriate provisions…” Scenario The piers have been poured and Joe wants you to start planning for the slab. Joe is still waiting on the structural specifications to be redrawn after your previous findings regarding the site soil classification. He needs you to check the NCC and make some notes on some materials that need to be ordered and termite barrier options. Task 1.3 Material Description NCC reference and Deem to Satisfy requirementsFootings: External edge and internal beams Slab Damp proof membrane materials Building Element Termite management option Slab perimeter NCC Reference: Penetrations/control joints NCC Reference: Australian Standard Scenario Now that you have checked the footings and slab for compliance and familiarised yourself with the ancillary requirements for termite and damp proofing, Joe is confident that you can supervise the laying of the concrete. In order to carry this out he has asked that you create a checklist of the things that will need to be checked off before, during and after the concrete pour. Joe will review this to make sure you have everything covered to ensure the structural integrity and quality is maintained. Task 1.4 Using the table format below as a guide, create your own table listing the critical checks that need to be carried out before, during and after the concrete pour. Describe the observations that you will be making for each of the items which will include Work Health Safety considerations. An example has been shown for each stage.
