From pages 418-420 of your textbook, you will answer and reflect upon prompt one in the RESPOND box which asks you to look closely at five passages, each of which is from an opening of a published work. From there, you need to decide which ones provide examples of academic argument. In order to make this determination, you should answer the following questions:
How would you describe each of these passages and what are the key features?
Which is the most formal and academic? And Which is the least formal and/or academic? Please explain how you made this determination using what you have learned from Chapter 17.
