Assignment Overview: For this assignment, you will interview an educator (teacher, counselor, or administrator) who works in a K-12 school setting. The purpose of this interview is to explore their insights and experiences related to classroom management, social-emotional learning (SEL), and bullying prevention. You will develop a set of thoughtful questions that touch on these topics and write a reflective summary of your findings.

Assignment Instructions:
Select an Interviewee:
Choose an educator working in a P-20 setting (PreK—College). You may select a current or former teacher, school counselor, administrator, or other relevant education professional.
Prepare Your Questions:
Develop a set of 8-10 interview questions exploring classroom management, SEL, and bullying prevention. Below are suggested questions. You are required to use at least one from each section, but you are encouraged to modify or expand on them based on your interests:
Classroom Management:
What strategies do you find most effective in managing a classroom with diverse needs and behaviors?
How do you balance maintaining order with creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment?
Can you share a challenging classroom management situation you’ve faced and how you handled it?
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):
How do you incorporate social-emotional learning into your daily classroom routine or curriculum?
What SEL programs or tools does your school use, and how do they support student development?
How do you think SEL impacts student academic performance and classroom behavior?
Bullying Prevention:
What steps does your school take to prevent bullying in the classroom and other school environments?
Can you share any examples of effective anti-bullying programs or initiatives you’ve been involved with?
How do you address bullying situations, and what is your role in supporting both the victim and the aggressor?
Conduct the Interview:
Arrange a time to conduct the interview, either in person, by phone, or virtually (e.g., Zoom). Be sure to take notes or record the interview (with permission) for accuracy.
Write a Reflective Summary:
After the interview, write a 2-3 page reflective summary discussing the educator’s responses and how they align with the course concepts. Highlight any surprising insights or key takeaways. Address the following:
What did you learn about classroom management, SEL, and bullying prevention from the educator’s perspective?
How do the educator’s experiences connect to what you’ve learned in class?
How can these insights inform your future role as a professional or educator?
