Serum samples from two patients were tested along with a Reference serum(healthy control) in CH50 assays to determine serum complement function.Patient history:Patient X:• 19 year old male• Symptoms include: fever, headache, confusion, somnolence• No evidence of recent respiratory tract infection, patient is HIV-negative• Patient has a sister who has had two unusual prior episodes of significant Neisseriameningitidis infectionsPatient Y:• 30 year old male• Symptoms include: persistent and worsening urticaria, angioedema (of lips), and palpablepurpura on torso consistent with vasculitis• Patient showed blood markers consistent with renal inflammationData generated from CH50 assaysUse, analyse and report on the data below in preparing your lab report.
