Discussion: Step
Criminal Profiling has a long a storied history. To even
become slightly proficient in the practice of actual
criminal profiling it would take at least 15 years of
investigative experience, an advanced degree in
criminology or psychology, and a strong ability to apply
the scientific method to disparate data points that make
ittle sense on their own. We have none of these
abilities… but that is not going to stop us from trying.
For this discussion, you need:
1. Read the posted articles on criminal profiling.
o Kocsis. et al.pdf
. Homant and Kennedy.pdf
2. Download the “Crime Scene Profiling Activity.pdf .
***Trigger warning – This document depicts
fictional crime scenes. There are no photos or
grotesque imagery. Just black and white floor plans
depicting an apartment in which a crime occurred
with red splotches for the area in which blood was
found). For the record, “exsanguinateon” means the
individual dies from bleeding to death.
3. Look at all three “crime scenes” present in the
“criminal profiling activity” sheet.
4. Try and create a profile for who the perpetrator of
each crime may be.
