The assessment is made up of two parts:
Part A an oral presentation about the application of quality improvement, lean and health economics. (10 min powerpoint presentation with video).
Part B an individual report about a leadership strategy which aligns with authentic leadership.
The purpose of this assessment is to enable you to link health economics and lean principles to quality improvement. Your presentation should be aimed at your peers (ie other registered nurses or interprofessionals), using appropriate language and terminology, and giving enough explanation for your audience to understand the concepts discussed. A reference list should be provided and noted appropriately throughout your presentation on either the slides or any visual materials used. It is essential that you display professionalism throughout your presentation.
Guide to the recorded presentation structure and content
Part 1: suggested heading ‘Case for change’
Outline briefly how the problem came to light – ie provide context and background.
Define the issue/project with a short statement detailing its significance as an appropriate health care issue requiring change – use statistics to support your reasons for change, draw upon research and current literature.
Briefly explain the relevance of the chosen issue to an existing practice priority (ie NSW or Tasmania)
Part 2: suggested heading ‘Model for improvement’
It is highly recommended that you apply the model for improvement framework provided to you in Module 2.5 for analysing your chosen issue.
Briefly explain the model for improvement with support from the literature.
Design an aim statement
What are you trying to achieve?
How much do you want to achieve?
When do you want to achieve it by?
Who will benefit from it?
Provide a justification for the outcome measures chosen and explain how these will help to understand if a change is an improvement.
Consider how the triple or quadruple aim will be addressed.
Part 3: suggested heading ‘Recommendations’
Describe the processes/structures in place (and/or proposed) to ensure the improvements will be sustained eg PDSA cycle support continuous improvement.
Summarise your main ideas and reinforce your key message.

Step 3: design presentation slides
Step 4: practice (presenting your speech and using presentation technology)
Step 5: present and record a video using the option of your choice
Step 6: upload your recording to Echo 360 (please follow the instruction for submitting a video for assessment regardless of how you recorded your presentation).
Step 7: submit the assignment (embed the video into the text box to the assignment folder).
