Literary Analysis Essay (Theme) – Students will identify a major theme from their selected text
and write a Literary Analysis essay in which they support their analysis with textual evidence. The essay
should include a proper introduction with a well-developed thesis statement, conclusion, and at least
three body paragraphs containing specific and thoughtfully selected textual support. Students will
properly cite sources within the essay and on the Works Cited page. All of these components will be
included in a clearly organized paper. If a student uses secondary sources, they must be limited to
scholarly articles and websites only (students are not to cite “essay help” websites such as Sparksnotes,
Cliff’s notes, etc).
