5. Description of assessment task |
This is Assessment < IoT Project Design and Implementation > and is an <individual> assignment. You are required to complete the Project, an Academic Paper and participate on a Project Exhibition as detailed below: Project: It challenges you to design an IoT prototype product (hardware/software) within a tightly constrained set of software tools and hardware components. The major objective is for you to develop proficiency with a contemporary programming language and use it to programme a state- of-the-art micro-controller to interface with sensors/actuators, a display, and IoT platforms, as required. Apart from interface and size issues, IoT consumer electronics present some of the toughest design and engineering challenges in all of the technology. Academic Paper: You are required to write a short high quality Academic paper on the project (5 pages, IEEE conference style template) and must use Latex. As part of the academic paper, you should briefly examine how changes within the IoT domain impact on design methodologies specifically to your project. Data processing and analysis are key aspect of your IoT prototype, and you should demonstrate feasible security features as well as data processing analysis. |
Project Exhibition: To assess the project, you are also required to participate on a Project Exhibition. You will be required to create a short presentation (5 slides maximum) that highlights the key aspects of your project. During the presentation, you will also give a physical demonstration of your project and hold a high-level technical discussion. |
