Scenario:
· Mr. Hughes is a 67-year-old male that is status post exploratory laparotomy due to a
perforated diverticulitis. He is post-op day 3.
· Mr. Hughes has a midline abdominal incision that was partially left open due to
infection risk. The wound requires daily wound irrigation followed by a wet-to
dry dressing change. The patient has been alert and cooperative but expresses
mild discomfort during the dressing change.
