This topic will begin Foundations of Nursing by discussing some of the basic concepts of health and wellness in individuals, families, and communities. This topic will look at holistic and client-centered care with an eye on culture and how that affects a client’s health literacy. The importance and function of vital signs and what the nurse’s role is in measuring, analyzing, and reporting normal and abnormal vital signs will also be addressed.
Objectives:
- Use the concepts of health promotion and maintenance, wellness, and reduction of risk potential to care for individuals, families, and communities.
- Apply the multifaceted factors that influence perceptions of health among individuals, families, and communities, including culture, psychosocial, and spiritual components.
- Discuss use of evidence-based nursing care for client-centered basic care and comfort.
- Apply the nursing process to the nurse’s role and responsibilities when assessing, interpreting, and reporting vital signs.
