NSG 300 Topic 5: Clinical Judgement in Nursing Practice / NSG 300: Foundations of Nursing

The nursing process is used to create a nursing plan of care for the client. In this topic, the steps of the nursing process will be defined and how to design a holistic plan of care will be reviewed. The use of assessment data to prioritize nursing interventions will be discussed.

Objectives:

1. Utilize the nursing process to provide holistic, client-centered care.
2. Apply SMART goals and evidence-based practices to support the development of an effective, holistic, client-centered, nursing care plan.
3. Determine implementation and evaluation components of the nursing process for client-centered care to promote best outcomes.
4. Employ the SBAR tool for communication with the interprofessional health care team to promote planning and care coordination for safe, comprehensive, quality client-centered care.
