Assessment Description

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to explore the issue of medication nonadherence in various patient populations across the lifespan.

  1. Each group will be assigned one barrier by the course instructor and will prepare a PowerPoint

presentation (5-10 slides) that addresses the following:

  1. Discuss the scope of the problem of medication nonadherence in the assigned population, based upon evidence-based research, statistics, and references.
  2. Describe your assigned barrier and its features, providing examples of how client might be nonadherent due to the barrier.
  3. Discuss two or three strategies to overcome the barrier and ensure client adherence to the medication regimen. Provide examples from the literature on ways to implement your team’s strategies. Include appropriate citations.
  4. Provide a References list documenting the sources used in creating the presentation.

 

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

  • Group 1 – Elderly clients with multiple medications and medical conditions.
  • Group 2 – Pediatric clients with chronic illness.
  • Group 3- Teenaged/adolescent clients with chronic illness.
  • Group 4 – Clients being treated for diabetes mellitus.
  • Group 5 – Clients being treated for hypertension.
