Assessment Description
Investigate the use of over the counter (OTC) medications for managing gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) symptoms. Select a common OTC medication for either the GI or GU system and discuss its mechanism of action, indications, and potential benefits. Highlight the importance of patient education regarding proper usage, potential interactions, and risks associated with OTC medication use. Share examples of scenarios where patients might be tempted to self-medicate with OTC drugs for GI or GU symptoms and discuss the implications of this practice.
Engage with at least three peers who have focused on different OTC medications and evaluate the role and potential limitations of OTC drugs in addressing GI and GU symptoms.
