The identification of a clinical question is the first step in the EBP process. In this topic, you will identify quality
indicators relevant to nursing practice using the national quality health care databases, use the quality
indicator to develop a clinical question, and begin a formal literature search for peer-reviewed articles in
support of your clinical question. The assignment in this topic is to submit your clinical problem and gain
approval from the instructor so that you can begin the development of your PICOT question in Topic 5.
