Two elements of Just Culture that I feel are critical to transparency are, the concept of no adverse, or blaming when errors are reported. Many organizations that promote a Just Culture have policies that describe nonpunititive responses to errors, however many nurses are still reluctant to speak up and report anything negative (Paradiso & Sweeney, 2019). The scary part to this is that according to this study by (Paradiso & Sweeney, 2019), medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States. Healthcare organizations top priority should be effective and safe patient care, but when will they all understand this starts with the workers who are giving the care? The safer staff feel and that they are able to trust their leaders when they go to them to report human errors will create the environment necessary to provide optimal care to others. The next step after this trust and Just Culture is established should be the focused learning or instructions for the staff, that will possibly prevent errors in the future.

Developing transparency within an organization is built on the foundation of trust. The organization, management, and staff need to be able to develop a trusting relationship in which they can function together. Trust within the organization, at all levels, needs to be built and carefully maintained with a focus of honesty and transparency in all aspects of communication. Trust is the foundation of a just culture, it is vital to transparency, psychological safety, and staff empowerment (Fencl, et al., 2021). 

  

In order to develop transparency and a just culture, the organization and leadership needs to define when and how to carry out any punitive actions (ANA, 2010), and these definitions need to be shared openly with staff. The defining of at-risk and reckless behavior needs to be a part of policy, training, and open communication, providing explanations when necessary and appropriate. If rumor and misinformation develop around measures taken in an attempt to reduce risky behaviors, trust and transparency can be at stake.

A just culture requires focusing on fairness in the hospital in reducing cases of resistance in the healthcare industry. A long term success in the health industry require discovering the appropriate methods to ensure that there is just culture for the different stakeholders. Just culture is essential in making sure that the different employees remain responsibility and the employees are not blamed for other people actions. Just culture makes the processes in the organization more open and transparent in prioritizing effective care for the patients (Paradiso et al., 2019). Just culture in an organization helps in increasing the safety of patients by dealing with the wrong actions and cases of discrimination. Workplace satisfaction increases by using a just culture in a health care organization. 

  

The elements that makes it hard to achieve just culture in an organization are human errors and complex policies. It is essential for an organization to identify the appropriate methods to use in increasing the quality of care for the community. Human errors in a healthcare organization makes it difficult to attain the just culture for an organization. It is essential in address the human errors in increasing the fairness in a hospital. The complex policies in an organization makes it hard to attain the necessary fairness in an organization. An organization needs to focus on dealing with complex policies for a stable performance in the health industry. The strategies to use in handling the difficult elements are empowering of employees. The empowerment of employees helps in increasing patient safety by maintaining a just culture in the work environment (Kim et al., 2021). The embracing of a just culture and empowering of nurses helps in increasing patient safety.
