Critical Thinking & Decision Making (CA2 – Individual -50%)
Complete a critical appraisal of the decision making evident in the Department of Health Report “Overview of the Health System Response to date, Long-term residential healthcare settings” published on May 22nd 2020 in relation to COVID-19 using the information in the report.
In particular, this should include but is not limited to:
– Consideration of the context of the decision making (10 marks)
– The application of Elder & Paul Model (2008) of elements (40 marks) and standards (20 marks)
– Judgment under uncertainty (20 marks)
– 10 marks are awarded for overall insight and analysis.

The assignment requires a critical appraisal of the decision making in relation to long-term residential healthcare settings as the Department of Health Report “Overview of the Health System Response to date, Long-term residential healthcare settings” published on May 22nd 2020.

It is a long report and Section 1: Summary, timeline on page 3 and Section 12.
Future/Strategic considerations and Appendix -3 Timeline of actions and measures (p. 43- 48) provide a basis for the assignment.
In using the Elder & Paul Model (2008) or (2016), consider the key Elements (objective, assumptions, information, implications etc.), Standards applied to these decisions (logic, clarity, significance, etc.).
