Project Element and Business CaseIdentify a project that is of interest to you. A list of a few examples has been provided below.
Do not utilize these as they are provided as examples only.
You may find or identify similar projects but not these specifically. When selecting a project of interest to you, avoid picking one that is either too big or too small. For example, do not decide to build a new stadium for your local sports team (too big) or to plant your summer garden (too small). Select a project that you can relate to and have some experience with or that may be ongoing or recently completed in your hometown. Projects may vary from a few hundred thousand dollars to a few million dollars. Projects should last somewhere between 6 months and 2 years. To ensure you are on the right track, be sure to ask your instructor’s advice in selecting an appropriate project. You will be using this project throughout the course to complete future exercises Some successful project ideas.- The opening of a coffee shop- An open house for a local social service agency- A meditation pool and platform- A redevelopment of a local playground- Design and installation of a computer network for a small business
Week 2 Homework
We will be using data visualization within a tool for this course. Please download and install R (CRAN) onto your PC. There are two items that must be downloaded for this course: R and RStudio. Required!If you are using a computer with a Windows operating system, make sure that when you download base R, you download Rtools, as well.

Downloading RStudio Desktop (free version)
Verify this by attaching ONLY the screenshots to display your completion of the R software installation. Also, note (in one short paragraph- that is at least three sentences in length) how the installation went and if you encountered any issues. If you did, how were they solved?
Week 2 Assignment
Complete the following assignment in one MS word document: Chapter 3 –discussion question #1-4 & exercise 12Chapter 4 – discussion question #1-5 & exercise 1 When submitting work, be sure to include an APA cover page and include at least two APA formatted references (and APA in-text citations) to support the work this week.All work must be original (not copied from any source).

Discussion Question #1: How do you describe the importance of data in analytics? Can we think about analytics without data? Explain.
Discussion Question #2: Considering the new and broad definition of business analytics, what are the main inputs and outputs to analytics continuum?
Discussion Question #3: Where do the data for business analytics come from? What are the sources and nature of those incoming data?
Discussion Question #4: What are the most common metrics that make for analytics-ready data?
Exercise #12:
Go to data.gov – a US government-sponsored data portal that has a very large number of data sets on a wide variety of topics ranging from healthcare to education, climate to public safety. Pick a topic that you are most passionate about. Go through the topic-specific information and explanation provided on the site. Explore the possibilities of downloading the data and use your favorite data visualization tool to create your own meaningful information and visualization. Show your visualization on your assignment submission.

Exercise #1: Visit https://www.teradata.com/University/Academics. Identify case studies and white papers about data mining. Describe recent development in the field of data mining and predictive modeling.
