PSY4010 Assignment Task-

Belle and her younger brother Jamie have recently been adopted from an orphanage that is notorious for its poor conditions and lack of support for the children in its care. Belle is 5 years of age, and her brother Jamie is 12 months old. Their adoptive parents have been warned by friends that children from such institutions are irreversibly impacted by their experiences of privation/ deprivation, and that the status of the children’s biological parents is an important factor that is often unknown. However, Belle and Jamie’s adoptive parents are committed to providing love, structure, and support in order to nurture their development, and are hopeful that there will be no lasting adverse effects of their time in the orphanage.

Belle has shown evidence of emotional instability and a delay in development regarding reading and writing, though little is known about Jamie’s development. Please write a case study report that explores the biological psychology relating to the above in relation to both Belle and Jamie.

Additionally, ensure that you address the comments made by the adoptive parents’ friends from a neuroplasticity perspective. Remember that the core focus of this assignment is biological psychology. Links to other disciplines can help to support your arguments, but your primary emphasis should be upon the biological psychology relating to the case study.
