General Advice
You are asked to discuss the current research into the prevention and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In PTSD, following a traumatic event (during which an individual experiences or witnesses death or threatened death, actual or threatened serious injury, or actual or threatened sexual violation), the affected individual re-experiences the event through memories and nightmares (Barlow & Durand, 2015). Psychological treatments have shown to be effective in treating PTSD, though drugs can also be effective in treating the symptoms of PTSD (Barlow & Durand, 2015).
