OBJECTIVE
This assignment is to appraise learners’ analytical skills in exploring the development of their personal knowledge and professional progress based on Patricia Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory.
SYNOPSIS:
Patricia Benner in her book “Mapping Nurses’ Development from the Level of Novice to Expert” clearly articulated that novice nurse “using concrete experiences to build knowledge” (Benner, 1984). By progressing through each level of acquisition, the individual moves from abstract principles to using guide experience, transitioning the individual from “detached observers to an involved performer”(Current Nursing, 2010).
TASK:
Reflect on an aspect of nursing practice that you have developed as your personal knowledge, and critically explore the development of that knowledge as your professional competency based on Patricia Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory.
