Remember to structure your post as an ACADEMIC ARGUMENT.
Formulating a thesis or main argument that responds to the prompt. This can be as simple as “I agree with —- because of x, y, and z.”
Referencing evidence/data from both the texts and lectures to back up your thesis. You can summarize (“Cherlin stated in the article that the relationship between …”) or directly quote from the text (“On page 34, Cherlin writes: ‘The best estimate is that about half of unmarried women…’”). Writing about personal experiences is welcomed and encouraged, but I highly encourage you to connect your anecdotes back to textual/argumentative evidence.
Asking questions! Several common ones you could include and expand upon include: “What are the shortcomings/limitations of this study?” “How does XYZ’s point in Article 1 compare to or contrast against ABC’s point in Article 2?” “What are some main themes that I am noticing across all of my readings and lectures for this week?”
