Hello everyone,
A positive correlation means that when one variable increases, the other increases as well, they basically go hand in hand (Myers & Hansen, 2012). Since it is a positive correlation between ice cream consumption and crime rate during the summer months, it means that both two variables are going to increase when there is a warmer temperature. Some ways that could help to explain this phenomenon would be that when ice cream is being consumed during warmer temperatures, it means that more kids are out of school and that families will most likely go on their summer vacations and be outdoors instead of at home, which could leave homes and other valuables at a higher risk for crime to happen. This correlation does seem like they are irrelevant to each other, but when I was thinking about how they could be related, I did see those certain instances where they would be connected.
