Section two: The House:
Section 1: Scale Drawings and House Plans:
Task 1: You need to draw a 2-Dimensional House Plan:
There are several steps to do this:
Step 1:
Sketch a plan of the house that want to draw. It must have at least 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, a toilet (it can be in the bathroom), a kitchen, a lounge/family room, a laundry and a garage. Here is an example of what it could look like.
Task 1:
What you need to insert/upload:
Take a photo or scan your drawing and paste it in here, You need to include your sketch drawing and your scaled drawing – either hand drawn or using a drawing package of your choice.
Task 2: 3-Dimensional model:
Use Lego or cardboard to build a scale model of the house but not the decks and verandah’s . Take a photo of both the finished scale model and at least 2 progress photos. Paste them here (or you can upload them when you submit the task)
If you do not have access to Lego blocks you can use a 3-Dimentional drawing program.
Section three: Your House Block improvement options:
In this part of the project you need to choose which optional extra you want to investigate to improve your house block. You have a choice of either ‘Paving the Garden’ or ‘Putting in a swimming Pool’ or ‘Installing a water tank’. Have a read of all the choices and then complete one of them. Use the plan in each choice.
Remember you only need to do one of these!

Choice 1: Paving the Garden:
After consulting with a landscaper, the plan for your front and back garden has been decided. There will be a pool, a small amount of lawn and a paved area that will be used for entertaining. The site plan below shows the amount of space taken up by the house and all of the areas of the garden to be landscaped. The diagram is1:200 (1cm = 2m) so you can work out the dimensions.
Choice 2: Putting in a Swimming Pool:
Although there is a pool on the plan, it is an optional extra with an agreed design. You need to answer the questions below about the pool.
You must show working out for the question that involve calculations:
The pool that is being put in the backyard is 4 m wide and 9 m long. The south end is the shallow end and it is 1 m deep. The north end is the deep end and it is 2.4 m deep.
It is important to know how many litres of water a pool can hold. This information is often used to calculate the quantities of pool chemicals needed. There are many ways that this calculation can be made. One way is to use the volume measured in cubic metres and convert that into cubic centimetres and that into litres. Another way is to use all side measurements in centimetres, find the volume in cubic centimetres and then convert to litres by dividing the answer by 1000.
