Select a topic impacting family systems in which you will become an expert and teach to your classmates. A minimum of 3 references are to be included of which 2 should be peer reviewed research articles to support your information. In addition, you are to include a minimum of 4 resources (2 national and 2 local) that one could give to a family.
- You can go longer than 5 minutes if needed, but please keep your recording to no more than 10 minutes. You are to include the impact that your topic may have on family systems as well as interventions and strategies to utilize. Include an explanation of resources and how they may be effective. Include possible etiology and common causal/risk factors of trends, strategies to approach working with families with these factors (i.e. what interventions would you choose and why, what might be possible barriers to effective treatment, what would be realistic goals, etc). What important contextual, community, social, economic, political, personal or cultural issues related to this topic and the trend?
- Topics may include the following: poverty, mental illness and families, domestic violence, abuse and neglect, divorce, separation and families, diversity and families, refugee and immigrant families, etc, and should include the impact of your topic on medical needs. Include an informal statement in the end of the presentation and describe what has been useful in relation to your professional development. What was challenging about the material.
