Select at least three pieces of art (which includes sculpture, painting, and architecture) we have seen in class so far this quarter, and explain how and why they are all examples of disruption and resistance (artistically, or politically, or religiously, or culturally). Against what were the artists resisting or what were they attempting to disrupt? You should explain the historical context of each of the pieces (discuss what was happening at the time the pieces were created), and you should present an analysis of each piece (please don’t just list each piece as an example – discuss and examine them). All three examples must be pieces of art we have seen in class. (60 points)
You should aim for approximately 2 (or more) typed, double-spaced pages in length.
Extra Credit! A. Examine how and why the Early Christians developed their basilica churches. B. How did church architecture change through the Byzantine, Romanesque. and Gothic periods? (5 points possible)
