Assignment Details

Description:  Select your pathway from one of these eight pathway-related scenarios, and write an essay in which you compare and contrast (i.e., pointing out similarities and differences). Be sure to analyze how and why the items are compared and contrasted. Also, incorporate at least two or sources. You must provide one quotation and one paraphrase into your essay from an outside vetted, academic source, making sure to cite the source properly within your writing as well as in a work cited page at the end of your essay. That is, you must conduct research. Use the MLA format for this paper. Based on the prompt, you will use first, second, or third person point of view. Most of you must use third-person (s/he, them, they, people, communities, and so on).

THIS IS WHAT MY ESSAY HAS TO BE ABOUT.

All licensed nursing roles—from Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)—require completing a formal education program and passing a national licensure exam to practice. Look at LPNs, RNs, APRNs, PAs or other types to nurses to determine how their educational paths and treatment styles vary.

Note:

When writing a comparison/contrast essay, it's easy to write an inadequate thesis that merely notes that the two things have similarities, differences, or both.  Instead, your thesis must make a specific argument (i.e., express a specific opinion) about the two things you are comparing.  In other words, explain why these two items are worth comparing and contrasting. Does the comparison/contrast show that the restaurants/vacation destinations/homes are both equal in quality? Or does the comparison/contrast perhaps display the benefits or shortcomings of one of the restaurants/vacation destinations/homes?

Assessment:

Your grade will derive from your abilities to compare/contrast successfully your two subjects using a variety of specific details and examples, to argue a clear claim/thesis (your recommendation) through the comparison and/or contrast, and to organize your thoughts either by subject or by point to help your reader clearly understand your argument. Consult the Essay Rubric for a detailed list of the criteria that comprise A, B, C, D, and F essays.

Requirements:

You should submit a 800-850 (4 – 5 pages) word essay (not counting the work cited page), typed and double-spaced.  Use Times New Roman font in 12-pt size.  Format your paper according to MLA guidelines. For this specific class, if you are using a source (internet or otherwise), that does not have page numbers, you must place the paragraph numbers in the in-text citations. For example: Author Greg Normandy stated, "there was no space in the crowded room"
