Social Change Infographic
Step 1: Preparing for the Infographic
You will need to choose a “social change” topic. There are some great resources for this within the Module 1 learning materials. Social change topic examples include, but are not limited to, access to healthcare, economic inequality, racism, mental health, abortion, food insecurity, and climate change.
Consider the impact of identity and bias on decision making on the selected social change topic.
There is also a link within Module 1 to explain an infographic and free resources to create your own. Go to: What is an Infographic? Examples, Templates & Design Tips
Understand the Questions:
Start by carefully reviewing the following five questions you need to address. Ensure you understand what each question is asking and think about how you can organize your answers visually.
Clearly identify your selected social change topic.
Describe issues connected to the selected social change topic.
Explain how individuals and organizations might already be working on addressing issues related to your social change topic.
Explain the role of the nurse or change agent in effecting social change on the selected social change topic. Be specific.
Discuss how identity and bias may influence decision-making as it relates to the selected social change topic.
Step 2: Creating the Infographic. Some of the most popular are:
Canva
Visme
Piktochart
Sign Up: You may be asked to sign up. The free version is sufficient.
Choose a Template: Once logged in, search for “Infographic” in the template search bar. Choose a template that suits your project or start from scratch if you prefer.
Design the Infographic:
Title and Introduction: Include a brief title at the top of the infographic that tells the reader what it’s about.
Sections for Each Question: Divide the infographic into sections. Each section should correspond to one of the five questions, and you should provide clear answers.
Visual Enhancements: Use tools to add icons, illustrations, shapes, and colors to make the infographic engaging. Keep the design clean and easy to follow.
Limit Text: Avoid long paragraphs and keep text concise and to one page.
Download the Infographic: When you’re satisfied with your design, “Download” the infographic to your computer. In Canva, tap the “Share” button in the top right corner and select “Download.” Be sure to download in a file format that is either PNG or PDF – typically best for infographics and compatible within the course.
Good luck with your project!
