Task

The assignment is divided into 2 components, which need to be focused on a topic area selected from the list of examples provided. Students are requested to critically review a current health and/or social care crisis that has affected population health and wellbeing and impacted on health and care practice over the last 5 years, to explore an evidence-based practice approach to attempts to solve the crisis. Students are required to select one of the following critical case study examples from the list below:

The Covid-19 pandemic
Shortage of health and/or social care workers
Nutritional security
Young people’s mental health
Type 2 diabetes
Childhood obesity
The ageing population and growth of complex needs
The ageing population and rise in dementia
Health inequalities
Long waiting lists for health and social care appointment

Component

Students will review the chosen care crisis and explore evidence-based practice that has impacted and provided solutions to attempt to solve the crisis. Students need to draw upon research that has been published within the last 5 years from reputable and ethical sources. In the critical review, they will demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and limitations of the selected evidence-based practice. It is expected that they link this to the partnership of improving population health and well-being and the development of integrated care system approaches.
