The presentation should be no less than 15 informational slides (not counting the title page and Bibliography), and it should contain at least 3 medically/scientifically accredited sources
Scholarly Presentations
These projects are designed to bring relevant medical and pharmaceutical information into
theoretical lecture material, ideally making the course more meaningful and interesting.
Each student will construct a PowerPoint presentation related to a topic pertaining to
Immunology. The topics can be related to: newly discovered immunological-based
pharmacological interventions, autoimmune disease (mechanism, clinical presentation,
treatments and why they work/don’t work), vaccinations (adverse reactions, do they actually
cause autism?), or other interesting perspectives/approaches to the larger schema of
immunology.
This presentation should be done in the form of Powerpoint presentation. Feel free to share
pictures of clinical presentations if you are presenting on a disease (though please cite your
source). This project, as a whole, is meant to stimulate interest in the field of immunology and
provide a “foundation” for further research and intellectual growth.
If you are unsure of what your topic should be and wish to discuss it with myself, please do
not hesitate to contact me! Some possible topics include:
-Vaccinations: Setting the Record Straight on Vaccine-mediated Autism
-Autoimmune Disease (Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, etc.)
– Immunodeficiency (Chediak-Higashi Syndrome, HIV/AIDS, etc.)
– Novel Advancements in Medicine involving Immunology (Cell surface membrane-
targeted therapy in certain cancers)
-Adaptive Versus Innate Response to various microbiologial pathogens (viruses,
bacteria, fungi)
-Hypersensitivity Reactions (Type I, II, III, IV)
