Overview

This task requires you to produce a report based on the case study selected or prepared in Assessment 1.

The purpose is to analyse a public health intervention relevant to an Indigenous population of your choosing. This Case Study approach mirrors real-world public health practice.

Your analysis should be informed by themes and concepts explored in the course, including:

  • Working with Indigenous and tribal communities
  • Understanding the historical and sociopolitical context of public health interventions
  • Recognising the importance of culture and identity in developing effective health programs

Your analysis should:

1. Identify the selected program

Include details such as:

  • Target population
  • The health issue or need being addressed
  • Sociopolitical circumstances affecting the population

2. Assess program development

Consider:

  • Who developed the program
  • What information or consultation informed its development
  • When and in what circumstances it was developed

3. Explore program implementation

Discuss:

  • Who implemented it
  • Where and in what context it was implemented
  • Barriers and facilitators encountered

4. Evaluate program success

Examine:

  • Whether stated goals were met
  • What the goals were and who set them

5. Identify strengths and weaknesses

Analyse:

  • What worked well and why
  • What could have been improved

6. Provide recommendations

These may include:

  • Improvements to the intervention
  • Alternative programs or intervention designs
  • Suggestions for future implementation

Advice on Structuring the Case Study Report

Your submission should be written as a Case Study Report.

At a minimum, it must include:

  1. Summary / Abstract
  2. Introduction
    • Overview of the population
    • Description of the health challenge
  3. Identification of the Intervention / Program
  4. Assessment and Analysis of the Intervention / Program
  5. Recommendations
  6. Conclusion

Templates for case study analyses may be adapted (e.g., those used for business case studies). Replace terms such as company or problem with population and health challenge where relevant.
