This week we will discuss jurisdiction the various civil causes of action, critical principles that litigation paralegals and legal assistants come into contact with on a regular basis. Week 1’s Law Talk will include a detailed discussion of jurisdiction as it relates to civil litigation, including subject matter jurisdiction, personal jurisdiction, and venue. We will also cover the different civil causes of action, including negligence, intentional torts, product liability, contracts, and strict liability.
Research the statutes, case law, and rules of court of your state relating to this week’s topics. Be sure to cite at least one outside source in your posts. Note that we are focusing on state law, rather than federal law, as it relates to this topic.
