1.Chapter 13, Environmental Ethics. What ethical issues are relevant in when discussing the pollution of our environment ? What impact should they have on our political and economic policies?
2.Chapter 12, Animal welfare. Under what conditions, if any, should animals be used for experimentation? Is there a moral difference between using an animal for medical research and using an animal to test cosmetics? How would the type of research or the type of animal be relevant, if at all?
Take one of the topics that we have discussed and explore an aspect of it.
The purpose of this is not to censor you, but to prevent you from taking on a topic that is bigger than you can possibly cover in 3-6 pages, and to make sure you write on a topic in philosophy and not e.g. in history. For example, you cannot write on “Abortion”. That is too broad a topic. You could, however, write on a critical analysis of the poppy seed example in Thomson’s “A Defense of Abortion” or something else smaller in scope that is related to abortion
