When growing up, there are numerous factors that either make up or restrain the self-identity of an individual. Family traditions in addition to their culture are some of the factors that affect the self-identity of an individual. The influence by the traditions and cultural legacies may either have a positive or negative impact on a person. For example, there are legacies that portray positive aspects such as determination in life or being a person who is cohesive. The inhibition to an individual’s self-identity in these various ways is believed to last a life time. The way each and every one lives in their lives especially on how they present themselves is as a result of culture that was instilled in their soul while growing up. Family traditions and cultural legacies are unbreakable bonds and foundations that teach use about strength we must use in everyday life. Culture is one important element of self-identity which contributes to how an individual view themselves and the community they live in. It can be considered not just a tradition that a family is past down but an understanding art of how another tradition is used differently from one’s own.
