Please read the Module 12 Readings (listed as “M12: Readings”). This is a 55 minute film, which you can watch, AND an article about public health ethics. You’ll need to decide how best to read the required texts before class.
This homework/reading selection assignment asks you to take notes on what you read/see. You should have at least 2 full pages of typed notes (NOT including your heading, my questions–if you print them, works cited, etc.). They can be double-spaced, 12 pt font.
For this week’s reading, please address the following:
1.Write a research vaccinating children causes herd immunity to go down. This puts vulnerable populations at significant risk. To what extent do we have a responsibility to protect vulnerable populations from patients and parents who refuse treatment?
2. Please perform an ethical evaluation, using at least 2 sentences., which supports your answer to the first question above. One sentence should address a brief description of an ethical theory, and how it decides what is right or wrong. A second sentence should address why your ethical theory supports your answer to the first question above.
3. If you have any space left, take notes on the week’s readings/film. Please be sure to have at least two pages of HW total on the week’s readings/film. Please be sure to use quotation marks and citation when you refer to a text word-for-word (there is a film transcript you can cite). Please be sure to use citation when you refer to a text by paraphrasing (in your own words).
