Assessment Details.
Part 1: clinical protocol.
You are required to develop a clinical protocol relating to a long-term condition. The word limit for the clinical protocol is 1,000 words, excluding references.
A clinical protocol enables NHS staff to provide evidence-based care as a multidisciplinary team. It allows key questions of what should be done in relation to a clinical topic and provides a step-by-step description of the process of caring for and treating a client or client group with a specific long-term condition.

Part 2: supporting essay.
Your clinical protocol must be supported by a 2,000-word essay. In this essay, you will need to:
Provide a critical rationale for your choice of long-term condition and relate this to your professional discipline relevant to the health needs of your populationCritically explore and synthesise the care- and treatment-related content of your clinical protocolCritically discuss how you will evaluate uptake of your clinical protocol (utilisation of the clinical protocol by your colleagues in practice) and propose a strategy for measuring clinical impact (the extent to which your clinical protocol makes a difference to health outcomes)
Word limits
You have 1000 words for your clinical protocol and 2000 words for your supporting essay. You can have up to 10% over each of these without penalty (e.g., 1100 for the protocol and 2200 for the essay) but if you go over this on EITHER component you will receive a penalty of -5 marks.
Pass Mark
The pass mark is 50%. You are required to achieve the minimum pass mark in order to pass the module.
