ASSIGNMENT: You began or returned to college for important reasons, and one of those reasons is to learn new skills or expand on your current skills. Therefore, the purpose of the essay you will write in this course is for you to tell your reader (your essay evaluator) three skills you hope to learn or improve on while in college. For each of your course assignments, you will build one section of your essay until you have a final version.
In the first two assignments, you learned your topic, created a thesis statement, and prepared an outline. Now you will create the introduction and the conclusion paragraphs for your essay (five to seven sentences each).
Please do NOT write your whole essay in this assignment. You will create the essay step-by-step each unit for final submission in Unit 4. Creating your introduction and conclusion is the third step in creating your essay.
A. Assignment Guidelines
DIRECTIONS: Write approximately one page in which you:
Develop an introduction paragraph that attracts the reader’s attention and introduces the narrow topic of skills you hope to learn or improve upon in college.
Include, as the final sentence in the introduction, the revised version of the thesis statement you wrote in Touchstone 1.1, making sure to use the evaluator’s feedback in your revision.
Develop a conclusion paragraph to the essay, making sure the conclusion signals an end to the essay and provides closing thoughts. Be sure to restate your thesis in different words within this closing paragraph.
Meet the assignment length requirement of five to seven (5-7) sentences for each paragraph.
Minimize mechanical and stylistic errors.
The following requirements must be met for your submission to be graded:
Double-space the paragraphs and use one-inch margins.
Use a readable 12-point font.
All writing must be appropriate for an academic context.
Composition must be original and written for this assignment.
Plagiarism of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Submission must include your name, the name of the course, the date, and the title of your composition.
Submission must include your introduction and conclusion paragraphs.
Include all of the assignment components in a single file.
Acceptable file formats include .doc and .docx.
