CLINICAL SCENARIO:
You have been referred a twelve-year-old boy, Arthur Kumar, due to concerns about his stuttering. Arthur and his family immigrated to Australia from India four years ago and he speaks both Hindi and English. A key part of stuttering assessment is to determine the severity of the child’s stuttering and you will need to do this in both languages. You are wondering if it is possible for you to identify when he is stuttering when he is speaking Hindi, which you do not speak.

Note: It is essential to include an appendix providing your AI prompts if you have used artificial intelligence to complete this part of the assignment.
TASK 2: DEVISE A SEARCH STRATEGY
Task Description:
• Use the “Searching with confidence” module in the Resource 4: Database Searching page to help you learn about a range of databases and how to start searching them. Also work through the “Database Searching” workbook.

• Make sure that you complete all sections in the table below.
Database Search syntax Limits/filters used
1. Click or tap here to insert database name.

Write here if you have applied any limits/filters to your search. This is not always required or available. They might include restricting to English only, article after a particular year, etc.
2. Click or tap here Click or tap here to insert database name.

Note: It is essential to include an appendix providing your AI prompts if you have used artificial intelligence to complete this part of the assignment.
TASK 3: SEARCH EVALUATION
Note: Use the “searching with confidence” module and the database searching workbook to assist you.
3.1. The most relevant database:
Task Description: Review the articles that you have found from the above databases and identify which ONE database you think provided the highest number of useful articles related to the clinical question. This section is not counted in your word count.
Click or tap here to enter your answer to task 3.1.
3.2. Provide evidence (screenshots) of the search outcome of the chosen database:
Task Description: Provide a screenshot (or two) of the search outcome of the database chosen as most relevant above, displaying your final search strategy, any limits you used, and the search details of the articles found; AND highlight which articles you think are useful to answer your question. This can be highlighting the text or drawing on the screenshot.
Note: Make sure that your search string (the combination of words and how they were combined) is visible in the screenshot. Depending on the database this may be a screenshot of the search syntax (e.g. Medline), or a screenshot of the selections you made in the fields provided (e.g. SpeechBite), or a screen shot of a series of search terms that you combined with AND or OR.
3.2.1. Screenshot 1:
3.2.2. Screenshot 2: delete if not applicable.
TASK 4: RAPID APPRAISAL
Task Description: Complete a rapid appraisal of the articles found from your search in the above database (i.e. the ones you highlighted) and justify the most relevant article to answer your clinical question.
Note: Use the “rapid appraisal workbook” to assist you. Remember to only use the abstracts of articles! Provide a concise sentences to justify your choice.
Estimated work length for this section is 200 words.

TASK 5: PSEUDOSCIENCE JUDGEMENT
Background Context: Just as you sit down to read the articles that you have chosen in full, you get an email…. Arthur’s parents have sent you a link to a website and wonder if they should buy it and use it with Arthur. You’re curious and start clicking on that email link:
https://www.udemy.com/course/stammeringcure/
NOTE: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING, only look at what is free on the website.
After looking at what is available for free you start to think this website might be pseudoscience… How will you know for sure? How can you use criteria to help you discuss this with Arthur’s parents? You remember Lof’s (2011) criteria for pseudoscience from your first semester in the MSP and start thinking more deeply.
Task Description: Address four (4) of Lof’s (2011) 7 pseudoscience criteria and justify why you think that this is pseudoscience. In particular: clearly indicate the four criteria that you will be addressing; AND use additional evidence (external references) to support your statements.
Note: The word length for this section should be no more than 600 words.
You may present this section as a table or dot points (using full sentences) if you prefer. Use what we have discussed in seminars (and Lof’s 2011 article) to assist you.

A NOTE ON USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT:
• Ensure that you complete and upload your “AI Student Declaration” form. This form needs to be completed whether or not artificial intelligence was used to complete this assignment.
• You will be responsible for the work that you submit. You will be responsible for checking any content created using AI for suitability to complete the task.
• It is essential that you review (via Topic Book and Assignments module) the requirements for using (simulated) client information. At no point should client information (simulated or real) be entered into an artificial intelligence format. Doing so will result in automatic failure of this assignment.
• All prompts (and their specific outputs) must be included in your submission as an appendix.
• An opportunity to ask questions related to the use of AI for this assignment will be provided – see your timetable.
