Candomble is one of the African Diaspora religions’. Their creation story begins with the belief that their god (Oludumare) created the earth as it is as well as every living thing on the earth. In the beginning, Oludumare had his messenger, Oshala, go to earth. At this time, the earth was just made up of water purely. The messenger had a mission to complete and for this to occur, he received three things to aid in the completion of the task. These are a hen which had five toes, a chain made of gold and a bag of loose earth (Fanthorpe, TotalBoox, & TBX, (2005).
