1. Research: Identify and research the one childhood disease/disorder that results in developmental delay. Your research should include the incidence of the disease/disorder, the possible cause of the disease/disorder, 2-3 symptoms of the disease/disorder that result in eating/nutrition problems, 2-3 specific developmental delays, (use your textbook to identify normal developmental milestones related to eating and delayed developmental abilities related to eating. Clearly state Specific eating problems as a result of the delay(s) (chewing, swallowing, behavioral problems, metabolism excess/deficit, etc), the possible effects on nutritional status (growth problems, nutrient deficiencies)
2. Care Plan: Your nutrition care plan should include:
A detailed description of 2-3 specific nutrition interventions to address specific eating problems (identified in your research above) and to improve nutrient intake based on the type of nutrition problems you discussed in your research. These interventions can range from consistency changes, the timing of meals, and supplemental feeding, to the use of specialized formulas. State why you chose the interventions you did.
Your plan of care should also include at least 2 community resources( https://www.mchlibrary.org/families/frb-CSHCN.php).Explain how the resources can help the nutritional status of the child.
3. Meal Plan: Based on your findings from your research, create a nutritionally balanced one-day meal plan for a 5-year-old child with the disease/disorder that you researched using reliable resources (such as websites from .org or .gov for the disease/disorder you chose and resources provided below.
