Background
Building high quality and sustainable housing is vital to regenerating towns and cities, improving quality of life, health and wellbeing, creating employment and enabling economies to thrive.
Ambitious targets have been set to create new homes and globally there will be a need for 2 million homes over the next 80 years.
This chronic housing shortage needs to be set within the context of targets for carbon reduction, construction efficiency and cost reduction and this in turn poses significant challenges to the construction industry for both new build and existing housing stock.
You have been invited by your government (the country can be selected by the student eg Scotland, UK, Spain, India etc.) to advise and report on how this can best be achieved through the design and construction phases to achieve sustainable housing targets.
Please note that key policy documents specific to the selected country must be referenced within the report to evidence and contextualise the work.
